Because 27 is a good number of stories

It's getting colder. Yeah, we all know that, but for anyone who wants to bang fingers into the keypad to get the words out of his head, cold is not a good thing. It is uncomfortable, just like being wet, just like being hungry. I've been all three at different points in my life and miserably so. I got this laptop in 2008. Before that I didn't even own a desktop. I think I've said this before, but it's 6 AM, i've pulled an allnighter working on a project and i AM going to diatribe here.

December thought generally not a good month for me, has been particularly good this year. Infact, bad things also happened, but the minor bad things too over the awesome parts of the day, like the excitement of writing something weird, funny, crazy, WTF, totally insane at the end of the day. That excitement kept me going, whether I was in mood to write, whether I had had a fight with someone, or maybe I didn't have a good day at office, I knew that one thing in my control was writing a story. Heck, I could be using this time to write a story, but I am listneing to Pearl Jam and writing things which do not make much sense to me. I am tired. I am not even going to revise whatever shit I am writing, i'm just going to post it as such. I think I'll grab some winks now but before I go,

A Very Happy and Prosperous New Year to you from Me, N and the blog too. So, that's like triple best wishes. Me, my alter ego and the blog. Which other blog gives you that? None.

And on a side note, may you get drunk like you've never gotten drunk before, may you get laid like the last person on planet earth, may your drugs be good, and your partners faithful, may the cops ignore you when you break traffic rules, may you win a lottery and if not that may you find money on the street, may the people you like start to love you more than you love them, may the good things come to you slowly, so that you can learn to appreciate them, may your fights be tough, so that the victories are sweet, may your heart be strong, like a Dragon's, full of fire and energy.

I'm out.

The Case of Two Pills

The Matrix. It was the bald guy from Matrix movie.

What was his name? Sandman something.

He was always sleepy I guess. I couldn't see the hot babe with him. She was there in the movie right?

Then, this guy showed me his palms, just like the movie, there was a red pill and a blue pill on his palms.

Ah, i know what happens now!

"What will you choose?" he asked me, "the red pill or the blue pill?"

And at that moment I could not remember which pill Neo chose?

So, I ate them both. The bald dude shook his head and smacked his palm on his forehead.

The pills tasted funny.
---------
No other movie gets as cool as Matrix. Seriously. That one was epicness redefined and nothing will ever be as cool as that.

I Can Haz SkullCandy Skullcrushers!

This is kinda off topic from our blog's theme. But given the awesomness of the subject at hand, we have to talk about these. I got these babies in mail yesterday. At my office address because I am mostly in office in daytime.  So, it is this BIG package that is wrapped tighter than tight which ofcourse makes for excellent security for the headphones. I took the package to my desk, opened it and  out came these beautiful babies, SkullCrushers. Everyone in office was asking me where I got them from and the burning jealousy in their eyes was a sweet sweet high. Yeah, let me remember and savor that moment for a sec.

Right, so at home I started to open the package and I couldn't figure out how to! Oh Woe! So, out came the trusty SwissKnife and I delicately and surgically went MEDIVEAL on the plastic packing. After 15 minutes of careful cutting and slicing, these babies were in my hands. But I didn't have a battery, and they need a battery for the bass to operate. I prodded through the package looking for what else was there and...i saw an AA cell. Batteries included. Wow. When was the last time you bought an electronic item with the battery included. (Don't say your cellphone!). It's the small touches that matter when a person opens the packing of a new gadget. I got a carrying case, 3 different kinds of adapters, a cell, an awesome warrenty card, and the lil skull logo in the package is actually a sticker that will soon be placed somewhere nice and cool.

That said, i put in the battery, switched on the headphones, plugged them in the laptop. Played a song and nothing happened. No sound. Then silly me flicked a switch on the bass gadget on the headphones and BOOM! I was a fan! It literally made my eyes go wide and my mouth hang open in a WOOOOAAAAAHHHH!

I listened to songs I have probably heard hundreds of times and there were new sounds on those songs with these headphones. Too awesome. Beyond awesomeness, really.

Right, now i hear some voices from deep inside your soul, what you want a pair too? Yeah, well you can check out SkullCandyIndia's Facebook page Here and you can bother SkullCandyIndia on Twitter Here.

The headphones are still getting launched all over India, so best time to snag them and make your friends jealous. And yes, the bass will melt your brain into a slush of awesomness!
SkullCrushers and Sups. They can both crush your skull.

A Link and Update on the three story arc.

Found this story on a blog. This is real life. I don't think fiction can match up to this. Hats off to the writer. Go there and leave her a comment, she likes them.

Here is the link:: My Son

Meanwhile, I'm writing about Hellhounds and killer babes in leather and much more weird shit for the three part story arc coming up here.

This, is gonna be interesting :)

Stay tuned!

Jul 21, 2009

this is not a story.

I'm writing this from my phone, so any and all grammar and punctuation
mistakes should be taken for granted.

So, things have been pretty lazy here at this blog. Part of this comes
from my life changing somewhat in respect of getting a job, and part
of it comes from a desire to make this whole effort of writing stories
something bigger. There are few things in my life that give me as much
joy and satisfaction as writing but day by day it gets tougher to
bring the semi solid ideas into concrete form on the blog or on paper.
I mean when you've been doing something for lil over 4 years there has
to be some kind of stagnation in it. So i try to keep things spiced up
here, but how long can one do that too? People, readers, friends are
demanding. They want slick takes with razor sharp editing, sexy
charactors, thought bombs, violence, dramatic endings and what not.
Can't please them all. And the intention isn't so either. Why i write
is because it gives me pleasure to do so. There is a definitive kick
in wrapping up a story with a kick ass ending.

This rant probably isn't leading up to anywhere. I'm distracted as i
watch words form on this small screen and i think i'll hit send now,
before i say more stupid things.

Next up- a three past story which is going to be crazy as a bucketful
of piranhas.
Stay safe.

My story for Clarity of Night with guest appearance by past stories.

Two years, seven contests, each story more fucked up than the previous one. If you read them all, maybe you will see a transition, maybe you will see that I have become worse than what I was, maybe you will have fun, maybe it will leave you with wanting more. Who knows? Maybe you will, if only you read. The new story sent to the Clarity Of Night is A Thousand And One Years

Here are the links to the entries to previous contests. Enjoy, if you can.

New Year and a Contest at Clarity Of Night

Hey people! How is everyone hanging in there? Man, another year, full of god knows what all, it's all so exciting and scary at the same time. But well, first off, a very happy new year to all. Hope the resolutions are sticking in, though I feel making resolutions is going out of fashion and losing its appeal. Or, maybe we all have realized that we are lazy buggers who will still be the same come next year, maybe a lil bit fatter around the waist and a little more disillusioned, but same, almost.
There, the think pip for new year.

Along with wishing you all, the point of this post is to tell you about a pretty brilliantly amazing contest, that is not held by me, but by the very talented and highly organized Mr Jason Evans at his blog Clarity of Night. The latest one is called "Ascension" Short Fiction Contest, it is pretty simple but winning it is tough (for me at least, maybe you can impress the judges there with your writing skills.).

It goes like this, you look at the picture given on the blog for inspiration, think up a 250 word story based on that, (you can do poems too, if they relate to the picture, though few poems were submitted in the past contests, still it's good to see rhyme crimes). Send the story to Jason at his email address given in the rules page of the blog.

And if your story comes on top, there are prizes in monies!
$50 as the top prize and several others.

My tips for writing the story
>Keep it short
>Keep it entertaining
>Spell check
>Grammar check
>Pray
>Don't bribe Jason
>read the rules carefully on the Clarity of Night rules page
>check winners of previous contests for learning the things they did right
>your writing should show that it's written by you

That's all. Good luck if you choose to write a story, if not, visit the blog, there are some talented and kickass submissions there every contests.

More fubar stories coming up for 2009 on A Story A Day. Cheerz!
